LEINSTER PAVILIONS
Government Buildings Dublin
The Welcoming Pavilion at Leinster House is designed to:
• Provide an open and welcoming entrance to the Oireachtas, expressing the open and transparent manner with which government is conducted
• Secure both members and the public unobtrusively and seamlessly, enhancing security
• Allow agents to maintain control and surveillance over the flow of vehicles and people into and out of Leinster House
Maximise the beauty of the forecourt and in particular the existing Plane trees
• Provide clear views of Leinster house from Kildare Street
Our design included two wing-like zinc clad roofs that present a thin edge to the internal courtyard and the street. Glass reinforced concrete is used as an element to link the base of the pavilions to the existing stone lining of the courtyard and to screen the pavilions from the Office of the Minister of Finance and the Office of the Attorney General. Walnut panels along the walls are used to link the pavilions to the Georgian street
beyond the columns.
